B.Grimm Power Expands Renewable Energy for Data Centers Globally

In a strategic move to integrate more renewable energy sources in data center operations, B.Grimm Power (BGRIM) – the energy division of Thailand’s oldest conglomerate, B.Grimm Group – is embarking on a groundbreaking endeavor. This initiative aims to augment their existing energy offerings by specifically focusing on clean energy solutions for data centers. By collaborating closely with data center operators and emphasizing renewable energy, BGRIM plans to significantly enhance its contribution to sustainable energy practices globally. This is part of the company’s broader strategy to increase its power supply through the development of new power plant projects and strategic acquisitions in various countries.

B.Grimm Group has unveiled an ambitious investment plan, allocating up to THB136 billion (approximately US$3.98 billion) towards electricity generation and new ventures from 2024 to 2030. This includes a targeted investment of THB5-7 billion (US$146.2 million – US$204.7 million) specifically earmarked for the data center sector. In collaboration with Amata Corporation, BGRIM is already working to deliver and manage energy solutions within the Amata Industrial Estate Chon Buri, aiming to supply 310 megawatts of electricity dedicated to data center operations. These efforts are part of BGRIM’s larger goal to establish a robust framework for sustainable energy within high-demand sectors like data centers.

BGRIM is rapidly pushing towards finalizing its data center partnership strategies, with plans expected to be in place by the first quarter of next year. This thrust coincides with the company’s overarching objective to expand its total power supply to 10GW, up from the current 4GW dispersed across 15 countries. Significantly, their renewable energy investments span solar, wind, and hydroelectric power projects across Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and the United States. With an anticipated addition of 900MW to its renewable energy portfolio by 2025, BGRIM is underscoring its commitment to sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.

As the demand for data processing and storage continues to surge, integrating renewable energy in data centers is becoming a crucial trend. BGRIM’s intensive focus on clean energy solutions reflects its dedication to sustainable development. By creating strategic partnerships and leveraging innovative energy solutions, BGRIM is not only adding value to its business but also playing a pivotal role in promoting the global adoption of renewable energy. The company’s ongoing efforts highlight a significant shift towards greener solutions in energy-intensive industries, marking a substantial contribution to mitigating the environmental impact of data centers worldwide.
