E& Carrier & Wholesale recently announced the addition of a new 1.5 MW data center to its Fujairah SmartHub Campus, boosting the campus’ total capacity to 4 MW. This is a significant move for the complex, which was initially established in 2011 and has since grown into a carrier-neutral digital ecosystem. The SmartHub serves a diverse range of clients, including Tier 1 carriers, hyperscalers, CDNs, OTT platforms, and ISPs. This new Tier III facility is set to further enhance the campus’s capacity and connectivity, enabling global businesses to scale their operations while maintaining high levels of efficiency and security.

Nabil Baccouche, the Group Chief Carrier & Wholesale Officer at e&, highlighted that this expansion will provide businesses with reliable and cost-effective solutions necessary to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing digital landscape. The strategic location of the SmartHub Campus, which is connected to the Fujairah Cable Landing Station, ensures low latency and reduced backhauling fees. This makes it an ideal site for hosting mission-critical digital infrastructure. Moreover, the campus is set to benefit from two upcoming cable systems to be introduced later this year, further enhancing its connectivity options.

Beyond its new data center, the SmartHub ecosystem offers a wide range of services that go beyond simple co-location and hosting. These include comprehensive international connectivity, cross-connect solutions, IP transit, and a variety of wholesale services. Originally founded over 48 years ago in Abu Dhabi, e& has evolved from a telecommunications pioneer into a multifaceted technology group. Today, its operations span 38 countries and encompass advanced connectivity, entertainment streaming, financial services, AI solutions, cloud computing, ICT, cybersecurity, and IoT platforms, among other digital services.

In summary, the expansion of the Fujairah SmartHub Campus is a clear demonstration of e&’s dedication to addressing the increasing demand for robust and scalable digital infrastructure. By expanding its service offerings and enhancing its connectivity options, the SmartHub Campus is well-positioned to support businesses’ needs for agility, innovation, and competitiveness in the global market. This strategic growth fosters a more resilient digital ecosystem that will enable businesses to thrive and adapt in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
