OnePlus Ace 5: Enhanced Battery, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Same Cameras

The anticipation surrounding the upcoming release of the OnePlus Ace 5 has tech enthusiasts buzzing, particularly due to its expected global launch as the OnePlus 13R, an affordable flagship phone. More importantly, recent leaks revealing the phone’s specifications have ignited further excitement. The OnePlus Ace 5 is set to feature substantial battery improvements, promising enhanced usage times, yet it will come equipped with the same camera configuration as its predecessor, the OnePlus Ace 3/OnePlus 12R.

Diving into the specifics, the OnePlus Ace 5 boasts a 6.78-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO display, providing users with an impressive visual experience. This display is backed by the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, marking a notable upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in the previous model. Further elevating its performance, the device includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. While additional configurations are expected, the types of storage in these versions remain unspecified.

Camera and Battery

The OnePlus Ace 5’s camera capabilities might let down some users as it retains the same setup as its predecessor. This includes a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls and a triple rear sensor arrangement with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP sensor. The 2MP sensor has been a point of criticism, and unfortunately, it has not been updated in this model.

However, the OnePlus Ace 5 excels in battery life. It features a significant upgrade with a battery capacity of at least 6,000mAh and 100W fast wired charging. This combination ensures extended usage times and quick recharges, making it ideal for heavy users and those valuing battery life.

The phone will run on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 for Chinese users. The global version, the OnePlus 13R, will feature OxygenOS 15, offering a different user experience for international markets. An official announcement for the Ace 5 is expected in December, alongside the OnePlus 13.

This release from OnePlus emphasizes improved performance and battery life over camera upgrades, reflecting a broader industry trend. While the OnePlus Ace 5 may not impress those seeking advanced camera features, its strong processing power and significant battery capacity make it a cost-effective flagship. OnePlus’s strategy focuses on enhancing user experience and device longevity while cautiously approaching camera innovations.
