Leaked Specs Reveal AMD Radeon RX 8000M Series Launching in 2025

Anticipation and excitement are mounting as leaked specifications for the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 8000M series have surfaced, detailing four future laptop GPU SKUs set to make their debut in early 2025. These GPUs will be part of AMD’s RDNA 4 lineup, a continuation of the company’s effort to innovate and capture more market share. The information, revealed by the leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, offers a closer look at two midrange and two high-end NAVI44-based GPUs, which are set to align with the current Radeon 7600M and 7800M models, respectively.

The forthcoming GPUs are categorized into two main groups by their specific capabilities and intended use cases. The R25M-P4 and R25M-P6 are midrange selections, both featuring 128-bit interfaces and 8GB of VRAM. They differ primarily in their power consumption, with the R25M-P4 drawing between 50 to 130 watts and the R25M-P6 demanding slightly more power, ranging from 75 to 150 watts. For high-end needs, the R25M-E4 and R25M-E6 are the choices to watch. The R25M-E4 offers a 192-bit interface with 12GB VRAM and draws between 80 to 175 watts, while the R25M-E6, which is akin to a Radeon 8900M, touts a 256-bit interface and an impressive 16GB of VRAM.

The launch of these GPUs has been postponed from its 2024 timing to early 2025, a delay AMD’s CEO Lisa Su attributed to an oversupply of RDNA 3 GPUs. During the Q3 2024 earnings call, Su emphasized that the RDNA 4 series will enhance AI support, deliver superior ray tracing, and significantly boost overall performance compared to its Radeon 7000 series predecessors. Emphasizing a balanced approach, AMD aims to focus on gaining market share rather than solely concentrating on ultra-high-end chips, thus delivering a substantial advancement in GPU technology.

AMD’s recent trajectory showcases a string of successes, with the company experiencing increasing enthusiasm around their range of products and growing market share within the desktop sector. The recent release of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, highly acclaimed for its gaming performance and overclocking capabilities, exemplifies this trend. With the RDNA 4 GPUs on the horizon, AMD is poised to further fortify its position in the laptop GPU market, reflecting the firm’s tactical maneuvers and relentless pursuit of innovation. As early 2025 approaches, the tech world eagerly awaits to see how these enhancements will reshape the industry landscape.
