In addition to dismantling these platforms, authorities made significant strides by apprehending key figures behind the scenes. Three administrators were apprehended in France and Germany, and over 300 users of these illicit services were identified. Europol employed a proactive approach, utilizing Google search ads and YouTube ads to target and intercept individuals searching for DDoS tools or tutorials. This preventive measure aimed to disrupt the potential user base of these illegal services even before they had a chance to launch attacks. Furthermore, Europol issued more than 250 warning letters and over 2,000 emails, alongside conducting in-person “knock-and-talks” with suspected users to deter them from engaging in cybercriminal activities.
