Cologix Expands Canadian Data Center Portfolio with Acquisition and Expansion Efforts

Cologix, a leading provider of colocation and interconnection services, has recently made strategic moves to expand its presence in the Canadian data center market. The company has acquired two data centers from Cyxtera: VAN5 in Vancouver and MTL12 in Montreal. Additionally, Cologix has undertaken expansion projects at its existing facilities in Montreal and Toronto. With these developments, Cologix solidifies its position as a key player in the Canadian data center landscape.

Acquisition of Data Centers in Canada from Cyxtera

In a bid to bolster its footprint, Cologix has successfully acquired two data centers previously owned by Cyxtera. The first acquisition is VAN5, situated in Vancouver, which now operates under Cologix’s brand after the rebranding effort. VAN5 offers an impressive 11,000 square feet of space and a power capacity of 1.2MW, making it a significant addition to Cologix’s portfolio.

The second acquisition is MTL12, located in Montreal. With an area of 8,500 square feet and a power capacity of 1.6MW, MTL12 enhances Cologix’s presence in the flourishing Montreal data center market. The acquisition of these data centers demonstrates Cologix’s commitment to expansion and underscores its confidence in the potential of the Canadian market.

Cyxtera’s Remaining Data Centers in Toronto

Although Cologix has acquired data centers from Cyxtera in Vancouver and Montreal, Cyxtera still retains a strong presence in the Canadian market with two data centers in Toronto. YYZ1, situated in Mississauga, and YYZ2, located in Markham, continue to operate under the Cyxtera brand. These data centers offer reliable connectivity and colocation services to businesses in the Toronto region.

Expansion in Montreal and Toronto

Cologix is not only focused on acquisitions but has also initiated expansion projects at its existing facilities in Montreal and Toronto. In Montreal, the company has expanded its MTL10 facility, adding 12,000 square feet of space and an impressive increase in power capacity of 4MW. This expansion aims to cater to the growing demand for data center services in Montreal and solidify Cologix’s position as a leading provider in the region.

Similarly, in Toronto, Cologix is expanding its TOR1 facility, adding 2,400 square feet of space and boosting the power capacity by 400kW. This expansion project is driven by the increasing demand for data center services in Toronto, a vibrant and dynamic business hub.

Overview of Cologix’s Canadian Portfolio

With the recent acquisitions and expansion efforts, Cologix now boasts an extensive and diverse portfolio of data centers across Canada. The company has a total of 22 data centers strategically located in key cities, including Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto. These data centers collectively exceed an impressive 1.05 million square feet in area and offer a substantial power capacity of 94MW. The comprehensive portfolio enables Cologix to cater to the needs of various industries and businesses of all sizes, ensuring reliable and efficient colocation and interconnection services.
