Cologix Acquires Iowa Data Centers to Expand Footprint

In a significant expansion move, Cologix — a prominent name in colocation and interconnection services — has established a new frontier in Iowa through the strategic acquisition of two data centers in Des Moines. The deal encompasses a well-positioned carrier hotel located in the heart of the city at 666 Walnut Street, widely recognized as DSM1, and a cutting-edge edge facility situated in Cedar Falls at 1205 Technology Parkway, designated as DSM2. This acquisition not only strengthens Cologix’s national coverage but also puts them on the map in Iowa’s rapidly growing market.

Strengthening Iowa’s Connectivity

The DSM1 facility brings a convenient connectivity hub to Des Moines, boasting 4,000 square feet of data center space and a 600 kW power capacity. Already established as a pivotal access point for 25 carriers, DSM1 also holds the potential for future growth, with available space for an addition of 10,000 square feet and an extra 1 MW of power. On the other hand, DSM2 — formerly a OneNeck data center — increases Cologix’s footprint in Cedar Falls by introducing a 12,500-square-foot facility with 1 MW of power, along with room for similar expansion. These additions distinctly place Cologix at the forefront of delivering robust, scalable infrastructure in a region poised for tech growth.

Long-Term Commitment and Expansion

Cologix, an established leader in the colocation and interconnection industry, has recently expanded its operations into Iowa. This ambitious growth step comes with the acquisition of two pivotal data centers in Des Moines. In a strategic move, Cologix has acquired a central carrier hotel, DSM1, prominently located at 666 Walnut Street in the urban core, alongside a sophisticated edge data center, DSM2, nestled at 1205 Technology Parkway in Cedar Falls. These data centers not only extend Cologix’s presence nationally but also tap into the burgeoning Iowa market, earmarking the company as a major player in the region’s tech expansion. This move signifies Cologix’s commitment to extending its network infrastructure and services, providing enhanced offerings to current and potential customers in this up-and-coming tech hub. Through this venture into Iowa, Cologix is poised to meet the growing regional demand for advanced data center solutions.
