Acer has re-entered the competitive smartphone market by announcing two new models: the Acer Super ZX and Super ZX Pro. Manufactured by Indikal Technologies in India under an official license from Acer, these smartphones come with distinct designs, specifications, and target audiences. Given the intense competition within the smartphone industry, Acer aims to capture a market share by providing affordable yet modern smartphones equipped with advanced features.

The Acer Super ZX Pro stands out with its 6.67” AMOLED Full HD+ display, offering a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits of brightness. Powered by a Dimensity 7400 chipset, this model is available in five different memory configurations, ranging from 6/128 GB to 12/512 GB. The camera setup includes a 64 MP main camera supported by a Sony-LYT882 sensor, a 5 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor, complemented by a 13 MP front camera. Additional features include Dolby Atmos-certified dual speakers, an IP64 rating, a glass back, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging. All of these operate on stock Android 15, aiming to provide smooth and efficient performance.

In contrast, the entry-level Acer Super ZX comes with a 6.7” LCD featuring Full HD+ resolution and a brightness level of 800 nits. This model uses a Dimensity 6300 chipset and offers five budget-friendly memory configurations, ranging from 4/64 GB to 8/256 GB. The camera setup includes a 64 MP Sony IMX682 main camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 13 MP front camera. The Super ZX also shares the same 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging and runs on stock Android 15. Other features include dual speakers and a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power key. Pricing strategies have been meticulously planned to appeal to budget-conscious consumers. The Super ZX is priced at INR 9,999 ($115/€100), while the Super ZX Pro starts at INR 17,999 ($210/€185). Both models have been available since April 25, providing consumers with locally manufactured devices that boast contemporary specs and a user-friendly operating system. To determine whether Acer’s new affordable smartphones can truly hold their ground in the competitive market, several factors must be considered. The aggressive pricing, coupled with impressive specifications, positions these phones as attractive options for consumers. However, success will largely depend on user experiences, effective marketing strategies, and the ability to differentiate from an array of established brands.

Looking ahead, Acer’s re-entry into the smartphone market demonstrates its commitment to innovation and its willingness to adapt to market demands. The brand’s history and reputation may foster consumer trust, potentially leading to increased adoption. The future of these devices will hinge on continuous updates, customer support, and how well they can address emerging market trends and consumer preferences.
